A slight tapping on the roof of the stables brought Raine out of her notebook with a groan. She hated rain. Rain meant storms, storms meant lightning, and lightning meant... well, thunder. She shuddered at the thought.
Gathering her stuff, Raine hurried into the safe insides of the Opera. 3 years on the streets had given her a healthy respect for the inside of buildings. Especially grand ones like this. She loved it here so much that she even wrote a poem about it...
Of course she wasn't going to show it off to anyone. Even if she did muster up the courage just to talk to anyone, Raine would die before she would let anyone read in her notebook. The thought of people desecrating her privacy made her want to shrivel up like a raisin. She had zero privacy at the orphanage. But Raine was an usher at the Opera Populaire now. She was safe.
