A little of Liana now understood why men had always been nervous when they asked women they were wooing to dance. It seemed an age before he spoke and yet another age before the answer had truly set in. In that time she had already told herself that he would answer no and that she could understand why. Unlike most men and women who were playing this game she had been honest. She had warned him fairly of the danger. She had told him that she might leave suddenly with no fault to his own, and she had given him everything she could without actually speaking what was forbidden. And yet, here he had said yes. He had accepted her despite the danger. He needed a Juliette.

A small smile creeped across Liana's lips for the first time in a long time. She understood a little of how Mori had felt that day that she had first met her fiancee, the day that she herself had first met Mairus. Perhaps this is what she had been missing. Perhaps it was more than she had know that she was missing or else caution would have been thrown to the wind much sooner. This warm feeling, this sudden happiness and excitement for lack of better terms she would have no one miss. The sudden thoughts made her cheeks turn the same bright pink as they always did when she thought such things and only made her glow brighter with life and anticipation- if only Formorian could see her now! What would she say?

"Then I shall be happy to help you. After all, if you are not a decent Romeo by opening night we may never have the chance to perform again and I will not have such a burden rest on my shoulders knowing I could have prevented it." She smiled coyly, her lips taking on a shape not familar to them but one that a young girl of her age should have formed long ago. A flirting playful light took her eyes for a moment as she turned from heading up the stairs. "I will see you on the roof then to practice later this evening then." She blushed brightly thinking that she was shameful for all of this and then lowered her eyes for a moment before running upstairs. Perhaps she would tell Victoire. Perhaps no one. But she did not know if she could take this one great happiness amongst so much bad without telling a soul!

"This evening," Marius replied with a sense of nervousness and a nod. The look on her face beforehand had caused the onset of nervousness. He knew it was flirtatious, but he was nowhere near as used to being on the receiving end of such a look from someone he was actually interested in. His heart rate quickened, and he looked away after giving her a nervous smile. And then she was off, up the stairs. Once he was certain she wasn't going to trip, Marius left as well, heading for the dorms. He had a lot of practice to do, he supposed. Not like she hadn't seen him before and how off he'd been of late, but still, it was the principle of the thing. Tonight he had to do well. Better than well.

He just had to avoid Henri for now. He knew how much he would be teased for this, how much more he would be questioned about this mysterious unknown woman who had captured his attention. And who knew, maybe he would even follow him. He didn't need that one. Yes, with all that had passed at the masque, things had been a little down around the opera house, but still, what was the harm of a little fun, a little happiness? Something needed to raise the spirits. He couldn't feel guilty for wanting some personal sense of happiness in the midst of so much unhappiness. To hold himself back would be far too stifling. Yes, what had happened to Formorian had been tragic given the many circumstances gossip had told him about, but it was no reason to stop living.

Tonight would go well. It had to.

It's easier to pretend to be someone you're not rather than to be who you truly are.
