Jacob was expecting to look down into a blue sea of complete confusion; instead she showed something other then happiness and oblivion…it was pain. The hurt look on her face made is pulse quicken with guilt. He hadn’t said anything mean though! Just the truth that she should have already known! He hadn’t meant to hurt her feelings! God damn oblivious girl! “I didn’t say…mean…” If she wanted to believe he hated her, let her believe that. Not like he cared if one more person thought he was a complete ill-tempered and disagreeable person.
Cosette seemed to quickly snap out of it anyways so no reason dwell on it. Besides she’d probably forget about it soon enough, he figured. Jacob gave a very heavy frustrated sigh…it did bother him, as amazing as it may sound, especially when she called him friend again and poked his cheek. His cheek muscle twitched where she poked, he knew she was going to do that sooner of later.
“Do you really think you can carry me up all those stairs?” He said with a nervous smile that matched Cosette’s. Jacob glanced up the flight of stairs and took in a deep breath, “…friend…” he murmured.

"Ha ha... It okay. Still friends, still friends! We go through together without harm, trust me!" She cheered, trying to pump Jacob up as well as herself in a rather awkward manner. The thought of trying to be friends with a person you just met being 'weird' never crossed her mind. And though it was common for her to forget yesterday's events or even keep up with the latest divas, Cosette would probably never forget what he said.
Noticing how the muscle on his cheek twitched slightly when she poked it, a small smile came on her face. In a strange, highly demented way, poking Jacob's cheek was fun. She could probably make a great song about that. When he wasn't paying too much attention, Cosette carefully decided to give his poor cheek a tiny pinch. Tilting her head, she made a note in her mind that it felt sort of like a baby's cheek except a little rougher.
Stalling at his question, her eyes trailed up the stairs then back to him. Just a few moments ago she truly believed in her absent-minded heart they could reach the top of the stairs. Yet now she wasn't so sure, being a firm believer whatever the problem or outcome, it depended on one's relationships with others. Before a negative answer even threatened to pass her lips, Cosette was sure she had heard Jacob say she was a friend. She was so sure!
"Really truly?" She asked with a grin, not even waiting for an answer. Either way, there was no way out now. Jacob would be trapped in the foolish bond she called "friendship". Letting out a puff of air, the strange female started moving her free arm up and down. "Yes, I do now. Beside, pain make great inspiration for song! You need prepare too!"
After making sure the injured man could stand on his own for at most a few seconds, she bent down on her knees. "I ready! Wrap arms around neck now!"
