It was around 10pm, all the lights in the opera house has been dimmed down. Most of it's resents where all ready in bed. Cain on the other hand had found that he could not sleep. He got out of his small bed and threw on a warm jacket. He left the dorms and walked down one of the many long hallways of the opera house. Now most people where still to sacred to walk around by them selfs at night, the events of the phantom still fresh in the minds of the people who worked here before.
He on the other hand was not brothered at all by this phantom. Cain had been staying at the opera house since he was 10 so he grew up with the story. He believed in the phantom heck he's even caught a glimpse of him once. But the Phantom never bothered him so he never bothered the phantom. To Cain the phantom was just another part of the opera house.
All his walking lead him to the staircase that lead up to the roof top. He walked up it and walked out into the cold night. A small breeze hit his face as he entered the night time world. It was rather cold but it did not bother him. He looked up at the sky, not a cloud could be found. The stars shown bright like jewels in the back velvet sky. "Starts all ways shine brightest in the winter." he said to himself. But he stopped talking when he heard the sound of feet.

Kathleen was once again exploring in the night. She often did this when she was unable to sleep and tonight was one of those nights. Not for any particular reason mind you, but her mind was spinning with thoughts as usual.
She reached the rooftop and pulled open the old wooden door, wincing slightly when the creaked. The cold night air hit her as she came onto the roof. At the other end she saw that she was not alone. Her first reaction was to think that Erik had returned. But no, she soon saw that it was not he. She recognised the figure of Cain de Lioncourt.

The sound of foot steps got closer. It made Cain a little nervous, because he didn't know any one was up that this hour. Still he kept his cool. Turing around to look at the door, he saw the figure of a woman. Upon getting a better look he found that it was Kathleen de Montant. Some one he knew quite well.
"Evening Kat, what brings you out here?" he asked. Ever since he had first meet her he had always called her Kat, he didn't know she liked it or not but she never said any thing other wise. He walked up to her so they both could have a better view of each other in the dim lights of the city.

Kathleen smiled broadly. "I can't sleep." She explained briefly. She knew that Cain was quite used to these explanations and would understand.
She joined him at the edge of the roof and looked out at the night sky. The cold air calmed her and made her wish for her warm bed waiting downstairs. "It's been quite a while. Where did you go after the fire?"

"Well my wonderful aunt didn't want me to come back her her place, so I just stayed on a street trying to fine a new job." he said. It had been a hard time for him the past few years, with dancing being the only thing he was good at it was hard to find prober work. "What about your self?" he asked hoping that she didn't shear a similar fate.
The one thing good thing he could say was that living on the streets made him a lot stronger now then he never was. Both mentally and physically.

Kathleen frowned, "the streets? Oh, Cain, if I had known. I rented a flat, you could have come stayed with me. It often felt like it was to large for one." She looked off over the city, "But i'm truly glad to be back. I had nothing to do except work. I couldn't find anyone."

"That's quite all right, I mean what would people think a male and female living together when there not wed." he laughed thinking of the thought, so many people thought at lot of different things about him but he didn't care. Some times he went along with it as well. "I think these past two years have been quite an experience. But I'm glad to know your fine" he smiled. He looked up a the sky and sighed. "It feels good to be back." he said, and it was quite true because the opera house was the only life he knew.

Kathleen gave a toss of her head, "They could think what they wished." She smiled, and tugged her cloak closer about her slim shoulders. She looked sideways at him, with a serious expression. "Still, I wished you hadn't have had to stay on the streets."
The cold tonight was chilly, but not unbearable. Kathleen could hardly imagine what it must have been like in the dead of winter and not a home to speak of. She suddenly remembered Erik and wondered if he had had similar circumstances. She hoped not. Erik has always been rather kind to her, well as kind as he was able to be. He had even taught her a bit of music. She had hoped to continue the lessons but was unable to after the fire for obvious reasons.

"Please don't worry about it. The opera house is back open and where back again." he said with a light smile. He brushed some of his bangs out of his hair.
"Do you think he'll come back, if he finds out it open again?" he asked casualty, he knew not the full extent of her relationship with the phantom but he knew that she knew some stuff others didn't.

Kathleen knew exactly who he was talking about, though she tried not to show it. "Who?" Erik had strictly told her not to spread around that she knew him well. And she hadn't, though she was sure that it was suspected. People were always coming up to her and asking about the Phantom. She had strongly denied any knowledge and in short had made those asking feel like a fool.
But tonight, Kathleen decided to come clean, at least this one time. "Hard to say, he may not even be in Paris anymore. But," She paused. "If he is still around, I'm quite sure that he will return, if he hasn't already."
((Once we have a Phantom, fancy Cain and Kathleen going exploring and looking for the Phantom? ^_^))

He looked down that the city streets a few people walked down it's darken streets. "It wouldn't be the same with him. Tough I hope he's all right." he said. He knew most of the store about what happened, and the rest he pieced together being there at fate full night after all. Still at the same time he was also bad knowing the fact that the phantom was the reason he was out of a job for two years. So he did not know if the phantom coming back would be a good thing. "So what do you think about the new owners?" he asked
((that sounds fun. The Phantom chould use a guy friend lol))

"To be honest, I've hardly seen them. Save for them running about looking rather panicked." Kathleen laughed, "They can't be more incompetent than Andre and Firmin were. I have a strong feeling they were in the business for invitations to parties and the women."

"Your right they where a bunch of pompous fools. But I guess that's what coming into new money would do to ya." he said of cores he had no clue what it was like to have a lot of money, but he figured it changed you alto. "I have seen the oldest brother Andrew he seems like he has a good head on his shoulders, and there sister Celestine seems pretty nice." he added. He hoped that theses men would be much better then the one's they had before. But one could only wait and find out.

"Not that the likes of us would know anything about real money." She chuckled. Her parents were decently well off, but nothing fancy. Besides, Kathleen enjoyed being independant, though she got a check from her parents every month. She used these for clothes and frivolous pursuits. Which was the sole reason she appeared richer than she in fact was.
In reality, she lived a rather frugal lifestyle similar to her performing counterparts. Still, Kathleen found it useful to appear rich when the truth was quite the opposite.

"No we wouldn't, but that's just fine with me. If I had been born rich I never would have meet such grate friends like you." he smiled and placed a hand in her shoulder, giving it a pat. his spoused Aunt would never had thought of giving him any money. Once he turned ten she sent him right here and never talked to him again unless on holidays. Ever since then he had all ways fended for him self. But he was ok, because he made enough of a living to pass day to day just fine. He might not have had any thing fancy to were but he was happy.
