Meg sat on the empty stage and finished tyeing her pointe shoe ribbon. Rehearsals hadn't started yet, but she was eager to start practicing before they began. It had been at least a week since Meg had last stretched, which was a long time for her. She sat in a straddle and leaned over her right leg. She could feel her tight muscles aching as she did this.
It was good to be back at the opera house. Her best and worst times happened here. On this very stage, even. She suddenly felt like she did years ago. The same feelings came back as if she had gone back in time.

With her practice bag in hand, Kathleen strode through the hallways from the dressing rooms to the main stage for dance rehersal. She was early, but then, she always was. Not only did it get on Madame Giry's good side, but it also allowed her time to relax and get in the swing of things before the stage became a flurry of activity. She was glad rehersals had begun again, it had been so long since anything had gone on in the Opera house. After the fire, everyone had been sent away. Kathleen had not gone far, only a couple of blocks away where she had rented a small and inexpensive flat. She had hardly danced since.
Now she had returned, and was eager to once again dance in the Populaire's productions.
As she entered the main stage area, she noticed that Meg Giry was already there stretching. Kathleen briefly wondered where the younger blonde had gone while the Populaire was being repaired. Being a ballerina for many years, Kathleen hardly made a sound as she sauntered up behind Meg.
"Ah, early too I see." Kathleen greeted as she set her bag down at her feet and began stretching as well.

Celestine made her way into the room as well. She like the other to was early. But she was only really relay because her brothers owned the opera house now and wanted a 100% performance out of her. Just because she was there sister didn't mean she got a brake at all, in fact they expected more out of her then they did the other dancers. Tough this did not brother her at all, she knew it was only fair. And she kind of liked being challenged more. "Hello girls" she said to the other two with a cheerful smile. She walked over to where they where and began her stretches as well

Kathleen turned from her stretching out her thighs to return Celestine's greeting with a little wave. She turned back to her routine stretches but procceeded to make conversation.
"I wonder if Madame Giry has loosened up since we've been away." She joked, knowing full well the answer. Madame Giry was well known for being a strict instructor.
"Dance is a serious art." She always told them when they chattered during rehersals.

Meg sat up from her stretch and giggled. "I know for a fact that she has not. She told me this morning that she is going to be much harder on the dancers this year." Although her mother is Madame Giry, Meg has never felt like she gave her any more special treatment than the others. Meg has always tried not to point out the fact that her mother is the dance instructor, but sometimes it's hard not to. She has gotten better about not calling her 'mother' during rehearsals, however.

Kathleen feigned a pout and giggled as well. "Well I hope she is not to hard on our poor untrained souls." She stood up fully and retrieved her bag from where it had been sitting.
"That's enough for me, ladies." She shouldered her bag, "I need to change before Madame Giry arrives." She then scurried away.

Here it was once again: the stage of the Populaire. She had missed it as much as anyone who had truely felt it was home before the great scandle of the ghost, but now more than ever she was determined to do well. It was almost like a rebirth for both of them. She was not out of practice after all. She had kept practicing, and dancing in smaller productions when the house had been under construction. Now, she was prepared and the other girls, well, they would certiantly see her as a threat from the moment she started at practice.
Of course, she wasn't about to do a full warm up in front of them. She had taken care of that in a little side room the singers used by the dorms. She had taken great care to find that spot and since it had been unoccupied before practice she used it, taking great care to warm up all her muscles and stretch appropriately. Once that was done, she gracefully wandered to the steps by the stage and put on her pointe shoes, carefully dipping them in the rasen before entering the stage.
Her eyes slowly scanned the other girls, as she stretched once more with the greatest care for good measure. She was already changed as were most of the other girls. Everyone was early and it looked like a decent group. She remembered a few faces, but only two or three truely held import to her. She remembered true competition after all. Now, it was only a matter of time before she got to sum up their skills and truely see who would be trouble.

"Celeste!" Meg called. She was genuinely happy to see a familiar face. Although she and Celeste have never been especially close, she remembered her very well. Her grace and talent was very unforgettable and Meg truely envied her pirouettes. Meg waved and motioned for her to come meet meet her to join in her stretching.
"How have you been? It's been so long!" Meg was so happy to see that she was coming to dance this year. The talent in this company was much greater than any other group she danced with before. She knew her mother would be excited, even if she never showed it.

Now there was a voice no one could forget. The owner of that voice had always been her biggest competition. Her talent was genetic and natural as her mother was the ballet instructor. Even if that had not been so, the girl still would have been her best competition here.
Given that they were competetors Meg and Celeste had never been close in the old days of the Populaire, however, times would change perhaps. At the very least, Celeste knew she had to be friendly. So, with a small smile, Celeste removed herself from her seclusion at the edge of the group and made her way over towards Meg.
Forcing her smile to grow slightly Celeste stopped her saunter right in front of Meg and nodded. "Indeed it has been far to long Meg hasn't it? I've been well, I do hope you've been the same! But tell me now, what have you been up to while we were all away? I've wondered so often."
