Character Basics
Full Name: Gabrielle Lucia Rose Hargreaves
Nickname(s): Rose, Rosie, Gabi
Birthday: April 14th
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Desired Position: Patron
Character Information
Appearance:
She has long dark brown hair that is mostly straight but waves after a few hours of not being brushed. Her eyes are a light blue with a violet tint and sparkle merrily when she laughs. Her voice is a little deeper than most girl’s, but in a very feminine way. She is small and petite but well proportioned, with delicate curves. Her skin is pale but not excessively so due to her many long garden walks. She often wears her hair in a single long braid and a simple dress in a light colour, and when she is outside in the gardens she often has leather gloves on and a wide straw sun hat. She is pretty, though in a plain way.
Personality:
Gabrielle is a kind and fun loving girl. She likes to sing and play the piano, to joke, and to take strolls in the Hargreaves’ huge garden. She reads a great deal, especially novels about chivalry and romance. Her frequent daydreams involve finding love with a handsome, dashing man and overcoming various obstacles to be with him. She is very kind to her brother and tries to encourage him to be more outgoing and to find a woman to love. Generally, she is very lonely with her seclusion and is very innocent and ignorant of the world because of it.
History:
The noble Hargreaves family can be traced back centuries and they are relatively closely related to Queen Victoria of England. Their great family estate is vast and ornate, built in the baroque period and style. Adrien and Claudette Hargreaves were quite in love, and their two beloved children (Louis, the heir, and Gabrielle, born ten years later) had everything that they could ever want. Everything went downhill, however, when the Comte died. Louis had still been but a young man, and the responsibility was great. Claudette became prostrate with grief and the ten-year-old Gabrielle was left in the middle of it, taken care of but very lonely. She received every treasure that her heart could desire, and Louis began to extensively put gardeners to work under her direction in the building of a massive maze and garden on the estate. A pond was also added, with swans, and a glass aviary/greenhouse was attached to the back of the house for her use.
When she entered her teens, strange things started occurring. She would often hear someone call her name, a female voice, and would respond or try to find whoever said it, only to discover that no one had said or heard it. Then it became phrases, and the voice became more defined. Female, and very sweet and musical, higher-pitched than hers. Eventually a personality formed, and a story behind it. The voice was that of Delilah or Adeline alternatively (the two names could both be used, though Gabrielle would only use Delilah) and the girl claimed to be a ghost, having perished from consumption at the age of twenty. Not many other details were given except that she was either a Duchess or a Countess and that her family was of England like Gabrielle’s and that she loved music, like Gabrielle. Delilah was a constant invisible companion to Gabi by the time she was sixteen, having appeared fully at age fifteen, commenting on her actions and on the people she met or the things she saw. Her views were not necessarily those of Gabrielle, and sometimes they got into heated arguments (especially on whether or not Delilah was real or should leave Gabi alone). When Delilah had become a named and distinct personality Gabi was fifteen, and that was when other problems started. She started to be less able to organize her thoughts correctly, or carry a whole thought through to the end without suddenly forgetting that she had even been thinking that in the first place and moving on. It became a very difficult problem when speaking to people, so she began to speak less in order to conceal it. She will often forget about occasions or what the day or year is, and recreates names according to sound (for example, ‘Delilah’ might have been ‘Adeline’ fist, or the other way around, but the sounds were scrambled). Occasionally other ‘ghosts’ speak to her at night or when she is otherwise left alone, which frightens her, but she is too afraid of the repercussions to confess to anyone.
