About your Character
Name: Dorian Claude Baptiste Villeneuve
Nickname: Dor, "Le Bohémien" (stage-name), Papa (by Angelique)
Age: 20 (but poverty has aged him terribly)
Country: France
Position: Not an employee at the Opera Populaire.
Job: Prostitute, Male performer at Le Maison Derriere (The Back House)
Voice Type: Baritone
Eye Color: Dark blue
Hair Color: Brown
Height: 6'2
General Appearance:
"He was one of those handsome men that graced the salons of Paris. His deep and intense eyes captured the hearts of the high society Parisian ladies since he began his puberty. It also created the envy of all the men who wanted the women, driving them to hate the young man. His hair was always kept very neatly, well put together I always thought and often commented on. It was never ruffled from a bar fight and it shined in the light of the moon or a chandelier of the mansion where he was attending a party. But I recall him oftenly saying that he didn't have to a thing to it, he wore it naturally. M. Dorian's face was just lovely and enjoyable to look at, with the full, but still flat, cheeks and the devilish smile he gave.
M. Villeneuve's clothes were finely tailored by his own personal servant, always very dark colored clothes, I may mention, but it suited him well. He always managed to stand out in a crowd, what with his height and his lean form, he wasn't too hard to miss! I would always be able to find him when we met for a quick lunch, what with his unique features. Oh what a tragedy befell all that! I saw him on the street a few days ago, after I had been married, oh, I would have never recognized him..." -Madame Cecilia Loisel de Champmathieu, an old family friend
Unfortunately the final statement of Mme. de Champmathieu is very true about M. Dorian Villeneuve. The man who was once the toast of French society fell very far from his gilded heaven to a flame engulfed hell, and with this came a changed look. His once beautiful shining eyes became dull as well as filled with pain and ache from the changed life. Tears often fill those eyes as he falls asleep for the few hours every morning and nothing can make them stop until the manager of the club beats him out of it. His hair lost its shine and became tangled and wild as well becoming limp and lifeless, much like his soul. His face had become famished, dark circles are often seen under his eyes as they become more sunken in and skeletal like.
Dorian's once fine clothes were replaced by a tattered shirt, the only one he owned, aside from a more kept together one meant for occasional outings in the park. The only trousers he had were ripped and dirtied by the street, along with shoes that barely were kept together and no socks to warm his feet. The cold makes him fear that frostbite will get his to his toes and they'll have to disappear. Also he has no coat to his name, only having a thin wool muffler to shield him from the cold. The young man's lean body was a thing of the past, now barely feed and he slowly became thinner, as well his strength wearing out from lack of nourishment and rest. Pity what can happen to a man.

Personality:
"M. Dorian's personality? Why I can say all that in a few words: a perfect gentlemen. We are talking about a man who would do anything to help someone in need. He also would charm quite a few people in just a few moments with a witty comment or two or, in most cases, a brain to match any scholar. M. Dorian loved to learn and tackle a challenge, which helped him a great deal, mind you, helping him succeed in anything he attempted, no matter how much time it would take. A very persistent man he is. Ever since he was a small child he's been that way and I always encouraged him to keep the noble quality.
Another trait of M. Dorian is his pride. He always had his dignity and would never stoop to low levels in any case. He had pride, but he wasn't too haughty as other wealthy boys of society might have been, for he realized he couldn't be the best at everything. That didn't stop him from attempting, though mind you. But oh, the poor boy's pride has been taken away by an invisible hand of the Almighty! I wrote him a letter a few weeks ago to check up on him and his response seemed to have been written by a different gentleman. He had changed... it worried me deeply, but Monsieur le Comte and Madame la Comtesse have forbidden anybody in the Villeneuve household to make contact with him or help him in anyway, claiming they had no son, now. If anyone does, they'll be dismissed and right now is a bad time to be out of a job."-Monsieur Jacques Babette, a butler at the Villeneuve mansion
Again, the recollections of the two interviewees are correct, but unfortunately this is the Dorian Villeneuve of long ago, he has been reborn and it's not for the better. In the events of previous years, Dorian's personality had changed drastically, once being a perfect gentleman and a romantic, he has become realistic and very much deranged. His mind is confused, a maze of thoughts that don't apply to himself, leading to his ramblings on the streets as he wanders from place to place. Now he no longer tries, knowing that unless you have money, there's no chance for you, life is too cruel for those without help. Dorian has lost faith in God, for he doesn't understand why He would do this to him, someone who had done nothing wrong. For this, churches have turned him away when he's needed help.
But when he's near his daughter Angelique, he becomes kindly and caring, better than when he's alone, Angelique being his sanity. He becomes more like his old self and tries to set a good example. She is his life, he loves her and does anything she wants of him. Dorian cannot provide her with a good life, which drives him mad because he believes she deserves the best things in life. This causes depression in him and he remembers his previous life, a constant reminder that he's the scum of Paris now.
Something Unique About Your Character:
Family:
Le Comte Villeneuve, Claude-Baptiste (father, not involved in role play)
La Comtessa Villeneuve, Paulette Adeline (mother, not involved with role play)
Le Vicomte Villeneuve, Gaston Philippe (younger brother, not involved with role play)
Angelique Madeleine Villeneuve (daughter)
Background:
The Villeneuve family was one of the oldest and prestigious families in France, always spoken well of and had very few enemies in the upper classes. They were the family that had no scandals, no embarrassing blemishes to their name and they made sure that it would stay that way, raising their children to be very sheltered from the real world of Paris, afraid of their corruption. It had been that way generation after generation, the current Comte Villeneuve and his wife, the Comtessa, would make sure that their children would be raised this way, no matter what.
Shortly after they were married, they were blessed with a son, Dorian, they would call him and a few years later they would have another son, Gaston. They strictly enforced that they would not be allowed to leave the property unless they was accompanied by one of their parents, and only in a private coach. The only times this would happen was when they attended the mass held at Notre-Dame cathedral and an occasional shopping trip. Dorian was a very socially graced child, though, even with his sheltered childhood, having been trained by many teachers who specialized in the art of grace. By age ten, he knew how to act in every situation and keep his dignity. This did not mean that he didn't try to rebel against his parents and their rules, he often tried to escape the mansion and that led to arguments. But the arguments were interfering with their lives, so the Comte and Comtessa eventually decided to give the dog his bone.
When he turned fourteen his parents gave him more freedoms, allowing him to go into the city with a confidant or a servant or even alone if he was meeting someone for lunch. In his childhood he befriended many of the other wealthy children of society and they grew up together and they had become quite a charmed circle. His life would change when he met a friend of his friend Cecilia, a daughter of an French Count and an English Countess named Antoinette Lenore de Archambault. She had everything that a woman would envy, beautiful curled chocolate brown locks, milk white skin, misty blue eyes, a slim figure as well as a sly wit. They began a courtship at sixteen and would be engaged in two years.
One night Antoinette convinced Dorian to make love, even though they weren't married yet. Dorian was hesitant, after being trained it was not proper and meant for lower classes to have pre-material intercourse, but he felt that they loved each other and they would be married in just a matter of months. They both gave in and spent the night together in a summer cottage owned by Dorian's parents. In a week or two, Antoinette revealed a great shock... she was with child.
They contacted their parents and they said to stay at the cottage until the child was born, to avoid a scandalous beginning to the marriage. Antoinette and Dorian agreed, not minding this command and they lived in the cottage with a few servants to care for them and the unborn child. After nine months, Antoinette went into labor for twelve hours and gave birth to a darling baby girl, whom they would name Lenore.
For a few days, they prepared the trip back to Paris from the countryside and into the waiting arms of their parents and eventually in front of a priest at Notre-Dame. Dorian left one afternoon to alert their parents that they were coming, but returned to the cottage empty of servants and Antoinette, the only thing remaining was Lenore, left crying in a cradle. Dorian found a note left by a reluctant servant, that read that Antoinette had fled them in efforts of going to Austria. There she would marry a business associate of her father's and start a new life without the burden of him and Lenore.
Dorian was upset and enraged at her departure and immediately left for Paris with Lenore. His parents were obviously not delighted at the news, but they offered an ultimatum, either disown and give Lenore up and never see her again or keep her and give up his title to Gaston as well as live life on the street. In a rage, Dorian fled the house, clutching Lenore close and tears falling from his eyes. He spent that first night wandering Paris with his daughter in his arms, until the daybreak. He looked upon the child with a look of despair and, to spite Antoinette, renamed the child Angelique, the name Antoinette claimed her child would never have.
Eventually Dorian found an apartment, but had a hard time paying for it, after being turned away from so many jobs because no one would hire a single father, fearing that he'd impregnate their female workers and cause them to loose employees. Another reason was that his father had spread the word that he had several problems involving alcohol and anger. Dorian was taken out at the knees and still had to care for his growing daughter. One night he wandered around the city in despair, having left Angelique with a kindly woman who adored her, and saw an alleyway filled with whores, male and female. He saw how much they made if they were favored, one even told him the price the pimp would raise for him. Dorian had no choice, this is the only job where decency had no business with. He became a man of the street.
It wasn't long before he gained regulars, mainly women and a few men (He had to make more money somehow. At that time he couldn't be picky about his clientele.) and made a name for himself among the whores of Paris. Soon the manager of a pleasure club, The Master as he was called, approached him about performing there as a singer and doing a strip tease. Dorian had no dignity left, as he saw it, so he took the job and spent the money on his dear Angelique, who was treated as a princess.
Le Maison Derriere was where he would spend his nights when he wasn't working the street and he ran into interesting patrons, mainly upper class people who were very secretive about their business there. Word had reached to his familt about his new profession and they were shocked at the news, officially vowing not to help him in anyway. He had shamed their good name and made them look like fools, as well as low class. That was when they did not regret letting him run.
But one night, Dorian had heard from a doctor's wife that they were conducting research on the brain and looking for volunteers to test on, offering ten thousand francs to the person. Dorian left her on the spot and informed the doctors and scientists conducting the tests. The money would get him out of debt for a while and him and Angelique could be happy.
The experiments were risky and had many life risks upon them, but Dorian needed the money desperately. They strapped him to a table and put him into a deep sleep before entering his mind. When he woke up he was bald and had a horrifying scar on the back of his head (which would be covered by a wig provided by the doctors) and they told him the operation was a success and that he was a perfect specimen. Unfortunately they didn't mention that the operation had gone wrong and that they had deeply altered his thought process. Dorian now had the mind of a lunatic.
Life didn't change much for him, his hair grew back and he was still working as a prostitute and at Le Maison Derriere. But then everyone noticed a change in him, a sort of madness that devoured his mind, he was clearly a changed man. Dorian, however, did not notice and went on to do risky and dangerous situations caused by the madness. Angelique did not know this man anymore, she had just turned two and she thought that his behavior was different, but he still acted generously toward her, so she did not have fear.
Dorian is now going through his life with madness, his daughter and his burden of a past. Life has killed the past Dorian and has given birth to a horrid monster. Let's hope that time and possibly charity can save him from the everlasting hell he lives.

I will also role-play as Angelique in the posts she's included in as she is only a toddler and can't be played as her own character.
